Delivery Driver (PART TIME)

PAYMENT, BONUSES AND WORKING HOURS INFORMATION:

WORKING HOURS: This role is a part-time position working from our Barnsley Warehouse (S75 1JT). Your working hours would be Thursday to Saturday every single week. 9:00 am until 5:00 pm Thursdays and Fridays. 9:00am until 4:30pm every Saturday. The potential for more hours and transfer to a full-time position is possible in the near future for the right candidate. 
PAYMENT: Payment is based on an hourly rate of £18.00 per hour.
BONUSES: A quarterly bonus based upon the right candidate's performance is paid. (Meaning you get 4 bonus payments every year on the proviso you meet set KPIs and targets. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Heritage Home UK is looking for a dependable delivery driver to join our team based in Barnsley. In this vital role, you will be responsible for transporting, unloading, and often assembling large, high-value, or fragile furniture directly into the customer’s chosen room.

This position is highly customer-facing, so excellent communication and a friendly attitude are essential. You will always work as part of a two-person crew to ensure safety, and the role is physically demanding, requiring care and attention when handling delicate items.

KEY JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Delivery & Installation: Transporting furniture to residential or commercial locations, placing it in the specific room requested by the customer, and performing assembly (e.g., building sofas)
  • "White-Glove" Service: Offering a high level of customer care, including unboxing, removing packaging materials, and ensuring the customer is satisfied with the product.
  • Logistics & Route Management: Planning efficient routes, performing vehicle checks, loading/securing loads to prevent damage, and keeping customers updated with ETAs.
  • Handling Paperwork & Payments: Using handheld devices for Electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD), getting customer signatures, and taking photos of the delivered items.
  • Warehouse Assistance: Helping with inventory management, loading/unloading at the depot, and maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle

ESSENTIAL PERSONAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: 

  • Customer Service Orientation: Exceptional interpersonal skills to act as the "face of the brand", dealing with customers politely, even when resolving issues.
  • Physical Stamina & Strength: Ability to lift, carry, and manoeuvre heavy, bulky, or fragile items, often navigating stairs or tight spaces.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous care in handling furniture to avoid damages and accuracy in checking, scanning, and recording inventory.
  • Time Management & Reliability: Strong punctuality to meet tight delivery windows and efficiently manage daily routes.
  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to think on your feet when encountering delivery issues (e.g., tight access, traffic, or faulty items).
  • Safety Conscious: Strict adherence to health and safety procedures, manual handling techniques, and traffic laws.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Licence: A full, clean UK/EU driving licence is essential.
  • Experience: Previous experience in furniture delivery, home removals, or similar customer-facing, hands-on roles is preferred.
  • Technical Literacy: Confidence in using smartphones/handheld devices for GPS and delivery tracking.
  • Age Requirements: We require drivers to be over 25 for insurance purposes.
  • Right To Work: You must be able to prove your right to work within the United Kingdom.

British or Irish citizens can use their passport or their UK/Irish birth or adoption certificate, plus an official document with their name and National Insurance number (like an HMRC letter, DWP letter, or P45/P60).
